Trauma Stabilisation Worksheet: Free PDF Download

Free trauma stabilisation worksheet (PDF). Build body, relational and daily anchors before trauma processing — the first phase of trauma counselling.

Trauma stabilisation worksheet for the groundwork before trauma processing — building safety in the body, in your days, and in your relationships. It is a short, one-page prompt sheet drawn from phase-based trauma treatment, where stabilisation comes first.

The worksheet covers four areas: body resources (what helps you feel steady in your body), relational resources (who you can lean on), daily anchors (regular routines that hold you steady) and warning signs (what tells you you are overstretched). There is space to list what already works, what is missing and one small step you could take this week.

When this worksheet fits

  • You are preparing to work on past trauma and want to build steadier ground first.
  • You are early in trauma counselling and your counsellor has mentioned stabilisation as the first phase.
  • You notice yourself swinging between overwhelm and numbness and want a framework to steady what is happening in your body and your week.
  • You are between counselling sessions and want a practical structure for the days in between.
  • You want a simple reference you can use alongside a counsellor to track what is working and what is missing.

A note on when to seek more support

Trauma work is best done with a counsellor who is experienced in it, not alone with a worksheet. If memories, flashbacks or distressing feelings are becoming unmanageable, or if you are experiencing thoughts of self-harm or suicide, please contact your GP, call NHS 111 and press 2 for the mental health option, or call Samaritans free on 116 123, 24 hours a day. In an emergency, call 999 or go to A&E.

When counselling helps alongside

Stabilisation is not a shortcut past the hard work — it is the ground that makes the hard work possible. A counsellor can help you build that ground, hold the pace and keep you steady while trauma is being processed. At Thrive, sessions take place in person in Central Milton Keynes or online across the UK, including Bedford and Northampton. Individual sessions are £55 for 50 minutes. The contact page is the simplest way to start.
