Here are some of the questions people often ask before starting counselling.
Please reach us at info@thrivecounsellingcentre.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
I support adults and couples experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma, stress, low self-esteem, burnout and life transitions. If you're unsure whether counselling is right for you, we can explore this together during your free consultation.
You can book a free consultation using the contact form, by email or by phone. This gives us a chance to talk about what you're looking for and decide whether we're a good fit.
Yes. I offer secure online session for clients across the UK. Many people find online therapy more flexible and comfortable, especially if travel or anxiety makes in-person sessions difficult.
I offer in-person counselling in Central Milton Keynes, with easy access from Bedford, Northampton, Buckingham, Newport Pagnell and surrounding areas.
Sessions last 50 minutes. We meet weekly or fortnightly depending on your needs.
Everyone is different. Some people find short-term work (6-12 sessions) helpful, while others prefer longer-term therapy. We review regularly to make sure the pace and direction feel right for you.
Your first session is a gentle introduction. We talk about what's brought you to counselling, what you'd like support with, and how we might work together. There's no pressure to share anything before you're ready.
Yes. Everything you share is confidential, with a few legal and safeguarding exceptions that I explain clear at the start of therapy.
Not at all. You're welcome exactly as you are. Many people come to therapy simply because they want to understand themselves better, feel more grounded or make positive changes.
I work integratively, drawing from Person-Centred therapy, CBT-informed techniques, emotion-focused work and trauma-informed practise. This means sessions are tailored to your needs rather than following a rigid method.
Absolutely. You don't need a diagnosis or clear explanation to begin therapy. Many people start because something feels "off" or overwhelming, and we explore it together at your pace.
Yes. I offer couples counselling to support communication, connection, trust and conflict resolution.

“I didn’t know where to begin, but Andrew made it easy to talk at my own pace. I always left sessions feeling lighter and more grounded.”
“I’d been struggling with anxiety for a long time. Learning practical tools I could use day‑to‑day made a huge difference to how I cope.”
“Therapy gave me clarity at a time when everything felt confusing. It helped me understand myself better and make decisions that felt right.”
“We came to counselling feeling stuck and disconnected. Andrew provided a space where we could slow down, really listen to each other and understand what was underneath our arguments made such a difference."
Take the first step toward feeling more grounded, supported and understood.
